A Paradigm Shift in Ecuador’s Healthcare

Before discussing therapies, let me share something very important. On May 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., something historic happened in Ecuador: for the first time, the National Assembly officially recognized the work of professionals and experts in natural medicine and alternative therapies. I had the honor of sitting at the head table of this event, representing the WIID Institute, and also received this recognition!

Behind this solemn act lies the dedication of dozens of visionary institutes, committed public officers, and thousands of holistic and alternative therapists, as well as experts in natural medicine who, with devotion and a heart of service, have supported millions of people for decades.

More than a symbolic gesture, it signals that our country is undeniably experiencing a profound awakening in its healthcare paradigm. The pandemic was a tough lesson for all of us, but it served as a turning point between the old and new models. Since then, more experts, professionals, officials, and citizens have consciously aligned themselves with new health and wellness practices—ones that resonate with our identity, worldview, and potential.

“In the future, we will see that good health will be treasured and regarded as an invaluable attribute, equal to professional success. Good health will be a demonstration and barometer of spiritual maturity and a refined culture.”
— Master Del Pe, Founder, WIID – World Institute for Incurable Diseases

Many people are unaware that Ecuador already holds, at its core, a humanitarian, integrative, and conscious healthcare model. It is enshrined in our Constitution. Article 363, paragraph 4, states that the State must guarantee ancestral and alternative health practices through recognition, respect, and promotion of their knowledge, medicines, and instruments. As Ecuadorians, we must understand, apply, and envision the true meaning of these words—and take pride in them!

While laws are being restructured to guarantee these rights, our challenge is to further educate ourselves and give visibility to the therapies, healers, and experts who sustain the wellbeing of our communities. We must ensure that those with a heart of service and latent skills receive high-quality training, learn strategic management, and maintain sustainable practices. At the same time, while meeting the growing demand with increasingly comprehensive and beneficial services, we encourage visionary leaders, conscious entrepreneurs, and investors who wish to leave a legacy to step up and support the strengthening of this new economy—one that is set to become a pillar of our nation.

Why not? The global wellness industry is projected to reach USD 8.5 trillion by 2027, according to the Global Wellness Institute—a figure cited by Forbes as evidence that this sector has become one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.

In Latin America, interest is especially strong:

  • 86% of consumers say their wellbeing is in their own hands.
  • 58% actively engage in mental health practices (Kantar, 2023).
  • 81% are willing to invest in digital prevention and wellness solutions (McKinsey, 2023).

Forbes confirms that today’s consumers are seeking more personalized, immersive, and spiritual experiences that provide integral balance between body, mind, and emotions. They value energetic and spiritual hygiene, including chakra cleansing and healing practices to restore the body’s frequency and release limiting beliefs. Wellness tourism is also being reinvented to offer immersive, culturally authentic experiences that integrate local traditions, nature, and community connection. Ecuador and other countries in the region have everything it takes to become continental leaders in the Wellness Industry:

  • Our unique biodiversity
  • Our rich ancestral heritage
  • Our heart of service
  • Our sensitive, open, creative, and resilient people

The New Health Paradigm: Integration and Collaboration

Conventional Medicine + Wellness Therapies

In today’s VUCA times (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous), we need a more strategic approach to health. In truth, it has always been necessary—but now it is indispensable.

Although “there is no one more blind than the one who does not wish to see,” out of necessity—and also thanks to current technology and AI—there is now a higher level of information and self-education among patients regarding all kinds of conditions and illnesses. Many people, especially those paying high healthcare costs or undergoing a deeper spiritual awakening, no longer wait passively for diagnoses. They connect the dots in search of results—not just for a single organ, or for the moment, but for the long term.

Conventional allopathic medicine has its rightful place in an integrative health paradigm, working together with other modalities. In this new vision, the patient is no longer “just a patient” but the protagonist of their own recovery. The integrative approach also considers the use of multiple therapies, a healthy lifestyle, character refinement, and the monitoring of the individual’s holistic development.

The Five Levels of Health Addressed in Advanced Energy Medicine

Health is not only physical or mental. At the WIID (World Institute for Incurable Diseases), where Advanced Energy Medicine is applied, total health is described as consisting of five levels:

  1. Physical — your biological body and its functions
  2. Energetic — vitality, subtle energy flow
  3. Emotional — how you feel and manage emotions
  4. Mental — clarity of thought, focus, and internal coherence
  5. Spiritual — purpose, meaning in life, deep inner connection

It is important to establish in our lives a health strategy that includes methods, systems, and complementary therapies designed to elevate all five levels of health.

Distinction Among Wellness Therapies

There are remarkable—almost magical—therapies that can help you with what you need most. But what is available, and how do you decide which types of therapies or systems are best suited for you?

Start by analyzing the five levels of health listed above. Make an honest assessment of the areas in which you need support and how committed you are to undergoing a process versus seeking only superficial remedies.

If you struggle simultaneously at multiple levels, suffer from chronic conditions, experience limited mobility, have poor response to medical treatments, live with side effects of medical interventions, or constantly face crises and relationship difficulties, you may need a combination of methodologies.

This distribution of wellness therapies is a general guide to what you can find, based on their benefits across the five levels of health (physical, energetic, emotional, mental, spiritual), the conditions under which they are received (remote, receptive, dynamic—sometimes all, sometimes just one), and their origins. This list is not exhaustive, nor intended to diminish any system—it is simply a starting point, an introduction, meant to spark curiosity and interest among seekers. For deeper guidance, consult trusted experts to create your personal wellness roadmap.

a. Remote Energy Healing Therapies

These therapies work mainly on the energy bodies and energy centers (aura, chakras) without physical contact. They are particularly useful when the person is far away, bedridden, in intensive care, requires social distancing, or seeks emotional, mental, or spiritual healing beyond the physical body.

Today, with internet access, these methodologies have become increasingly available and attractive, since no travel or in-person presence is required.

Examples: Pranic Healing, Reiki, Intercessory Prayer, Advanced Energy Medicine.

During the pandemic, many remote healing therapies became widely known. Advanced Energy Medicine, for example, proved its value and effectiveness when people urgently needed care but could not move due to lockdowns, lacked access to hospitals, or were forced into isolation to avoid contagion.

b. Receptive Therapies

These require little physical activity—the body relaxes as it receives treatment and is harmonized. Very useful for the elderly, those with chronic conditions, tension, or those in recovery.

Examples: Biomagnetism, Therapeutic Massage, Shiatsu, Sound Therapy, Aromatherapy.

c. Therapies That Activate and Move Vital Energy

These therapies mobilize vital energy flow. They are especially useful after surgery, for relaxation, improved circulation, and enhancing energetic metabolism (vitality level).

  • Acupuncture: stimulates points along meridians to restore qi/vital energy flow.
  • Reflexology: stimulates points in feet, hands, or ears connected to organs and systems.
  • Bioenergetic Medicine (clinical bioenergetics): studies and manipulates energy flows (bioenergetics) for therapeutic purposes.

Other integrative medicine branches and energy/vibrational-based therapies also fall here: Homeopathy, Bach Flowers.

d. Dynamic Therapies

These require breathing, movement, and consistent practice. They not only help with healing but also build healthy habits, vitality, and emotional balance that support longevity.

Examples: Tai Chi, Qi Gong, various types of Yoga, Martial Arts.

Many of these practices, though rooted in specific cultures, have become popular worldwide as independent disciplines due to their benefits on vitality, the nervous system, and the immune system.

e. Ancestral and Traditional Medicine

These therapies are linked to ancient philosophy, spirituality, or cultural values that still transcend time. They often address multiple levels of health, serving as a bridge to one’s roots, strengthening community and belonging.

  • Ecuadorian ancestral medicine: includes herbalism (use of plants like chamomile, rue, eucalyptus), cleansing and healing rituals (energetic/spiritual balance using candles, stones, guinea pigs), and nature-based practices.
  • Traditional Chinese Medicine: focuses on balancing vital energy through acupuncture, acupressure, medicinal herbs, massage, moxibustion, and practices like Qi Gong and Tai Chi.
  • Ayurveda: includes diet adapted to doshas and seasons, massage, meditation, yoga, herbal remedies, among others.

Note: Ecuador’s public and private health system, as we know it today, was formalized in the 19th century. It provides medical specialties, treatments, pharmaceutical drugs, vaccines, and antibiotics.

f. Emotional / Mental / Relationship Healing Therapies

These therapies work on the unconscious, emotional and mental patterns, and family bonds—often at the root of physical illness, according to holistic health research. They are highly useful for self-knowledge, self-acceptance, and personal growth.

Examples: Family Constellations, Biological Decoding, Complementary Hypnotherapy, Human Development and Gestalt, Neural Therapy, Creative Processes, Tapping (EFT).

How Do These Therapies Complement Advanced Energy Medicine (BEWell Science™)?

  • BEWell Science helps establish a Total Health Quotient (THQ) across the five levels of health (physical, energetic, emotional, mental, spiritual), revealing imbalances and guiding complementary therapy choices.
  • When you receive passive or vital energy-moving therapies (e.g., massage, acupuncture), BEWell Science helps prolong the effects with biomechanical exercises and advanced energy healing that cleanse and energize emotional, mental, and spiritual layers.
  • When you practice active physical therapies (e.g., tai chi, yoga), BEWell Science amplifies inner wellbeing with meditation, breathing practices, and advanced energy healing to harmonize and transform emotional, mental, and spiritual layers.
  • When you engage in emotional, mental, or relationship therapies (e.g., constellations, tapping), BEWell Science deepens results by boosting vitality and willpower with biomechanical exercises, breathing, and advanced energy healing that bring profound healing to personal bonds.
  • For cases requiring remote healing, BEWell Science has advanced protocols that complement other systems, addressing healing of the past, future, and invisible aspects of disease. It also integrates breathing, meditation, and life mentoring for the person receiving healing and their family.
  • For ancestral therapies, BEWell Science provides a structured framework of techniques and tools that both respect and synergize with spiritual or religious practices—producing measurable results.

Final Reflections

From today, there are no excuses—elevate your health at every level. I hope this guide inspires you to improve your self-care. One thing is increasingly clear: our health and wellbeing are in our own hands. They are not solely the responsibility of a family member, doctor, or specialist we see occasionally. We must take responsibility, consciously, strategically, and wisely, exercising authority over our bodies. Let us rely on trusted doctors, experts, and therapists to plan and sustain our wellbeing, care for our elderly relatives, and grow as helpful human beings in our communities.

As Master Del Pe, my mentor and founder of the BEWell Science System, said during his last visit to Ecuador: “Ecuador is the heart of Latin America, and the navel of the world.” If this is true, it means the new health paradigm is not hypothetical—something essential and substantial is emerging in our country. And as Forbes has shown, hundreds of thousands of people around the world need us to embrace what we already are—to “open the kiosk earlier” and join forces to transform our qualities into a sustainable, excellent service.

Let us continue leading by example, practicing this new paradigm of natural and integrative healthcare. And while elevating our personal wellbeing, let us share the good—supporting with sincerity the personal, private, and public initiatives dedicated to this mission.

I extend this message beyond Ecuador, to all those who came into this world to be the heart of their families and pillars of wellbeing in their communities. Let us move forward together!
